Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

The Brazilian Journal of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy (RBTCC) is published by the Brazilian Association of Behavior Sciences (ABPMC). The mission of the journal is to contribute to the understanding of behavior and cognition, under the traditions of Behavior Analysis and Cognitive Therapy, by publishing articles of basic, conceptual, and applied research studies.

The target audience of the RBTCC are behavior analysts, cognitive therapists, psychologists, physicians, and health services providers.

The RBTCC uses the Open Journal System (OJS), which do not generate costs for the readers and, by policy, does not incur costs for authors due to review, peer review and publication processes.

Research Studies
Research articles include empirical research based on Behavior Analysis or Cognitive Therapy. Studies with single case methodology, clinical trials and the application of Behavior Analysis to any area of human knowledge or activity are welcome.

Systematic Literature Reviews 
Literature reviews systematically organize, integrate, and evaluate the literature, taking into account the evolution of studies about a specific topic (APA, 2012). Reviews include metanalysis and must follow the guidelines of the “Prisma-Statement – Transparent Reporting of Systematic reviews and Meta-Analysis” (PRISMA).

Conceptual Articles 
Conceptual articles discuss important concepts related to behaviorism, interpretation of phenomena, or topics that can be related to other fields (e.g., Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, Public Policies, etc.)

Brief Reports or Case Studies 
Reports and Case studies include reports of clinical cases and reports of the application of Behavior Analysis to other areas of knowledge.

Translations of seminal articles written in English to Portuguese.

Frequency

The RBTCC is a quarterly electronic journal.

Fees

There are no fees for the submission, publication and evaluation of articles of the journal.

Free Access Policy

The RBTCC offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle of making available free scientific knowledge to the audience, and providing global democratization of knowledge.

DOI (Digital Object Identifier)

The RBTCC assigns a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) number to all documents published under the prefix 10.31505.

Online First System

Approved papers are initially published online after receipt of proof corrections to expedite their availability. This is the first official publication quoted with the DOI. Once the period for publication of the specific issue of the RBTCC ends, all online first articles become part of the new published issue.

ORCID Registration

The ORCID code is requested when completing the registration of authors. It allows unique and precise identification of researchers, facilitating the distinction in cases of homonymy, citation or indexing with diverse nominal entries. To obtain the ORCID registration, you must register at the ORCID website.

Evaluation Period

The double-blind peer review evaluation of manuscripts submitted to the journal takes between 90 to 180 days.

Archives

The RBTCC uses the LOCKSS system to create a distributed file system and allows libraries to create permanent journal files.
