Abstract

This paper had as its objective a study of the publications regarding social issues approached by the behavior analysts. A brief review of the literature tried to clarify the relations between a science of behavior and the questions involved in the determination of social practices. The notion of selection by consequences in three levels proposed by Skinner is understood as a fundamental aspect for the comprehension of societies by the behavior analysts. Abstracts and/or titles of 122 articles published between 1991 and 2000 on the American periodical “Behavior and Social Issues” were read. The analysis of the results indicates directions on themes, problems, objects, nature and results published by the behavior analysts in this period. The study suggests the deepening of the investigation about the subject on future researches due to its relevance for a science of human behavior.
